...striving together for the faith of the gospel
Please pray for peace and stability in Liberia during the presidential election which will take place on October 10. These are historic elections, since this is the first time since the end of the civil war in 2003 that there will be a transition of power from one elected president to another. Also, there were 15000 UN peace-keeping troops in the country during the last two elections in 2005 and 2011, but these troops are now gone. Security is in the hands of the Liberian National Police and the Armed Forces, although we have heard news reports that some ECOWAS troops may be brought in as backup.

With 20 presidential candidates, it is quite likely that a run-off election in November will be necessary, so keep us all in prayer for the next month or two! So far, the only problems we have experienced have been delays on the roads because of rallies at various party headquarters. Last night, it took me 2 ½ hours to get home instead of the usual ½ hour! However, there has been a bit of violence in outlying areas, and some candidates are rumoured to be saying already that they will not accept defeat, so we are really praying that things will remain calm.
