We heard good news yesterday that the Ebola outbreak in Liberia has now been declared over by the health authorities who have been monitoring the situation. Missionary women and children from various organisations who had been evacuated are now preparing to return to Liberia. We have not yet heard if travel restrictions have been lifted, or whether the outbreak in Guinea has also been declared over, but it seems that things are moving in the right direction. Thank you for your prayers, and we thank God that this outbreak was not much worse.
Please continue to pray for four children and young people in our churches who are struggling with chronic Hepatitis B. This disease is widespread here – the vaccine is not readily available, and when it is available, the cost is prohibitive to most Liberians. One of these children is very ill at the moment, and we are endeavouring to work with the family and the hospital to ensure that he receives proper care.
The building project is moving forward; the cement roof has been finished on the second house, and while that cures for a month, the hip roof is being built on top and window bars will be installed. We are so grateful for the generous financial support that has been coming in from God’s people; please pray that the rest of the necessary money will come in and that this work will be completed with no more delays.
